AbstractIn recent years, with the development of high-tech industry, the global demand for rare earth elements (REE) resources has been continuously increased. In addition, REE, as an important tool to study the origin and evolution of the earth and other related geoscience issues, have been paid much attention by the earth science community. Therefore, the knowledge of REE migration, enrichment, precipitation and fractionation mechanism in hydrothermal system is of great significance for understanding REE ore genesis and, the principle of REE as geochemical tracers. In this paper, we make a summary on recent knowledge advances in the hydrothermal migration, precipitation and fractionation mechanisms of REE. Particularly, the stability, solubility and transport possibility of different REE complexes ( e. g. , REE-carbonate, -fluoride, -hydroxyl, -sulphate and -chloride complexes) are described. Finally, future works that may enhance our understanding of hydrothermal REE migration and precipitation mechanisms are briefly proposed.
