AbstractNuclear test monitoring, composed of detection and assessment of nuclear explosion event, is of great significance for evaluating the power, and studying the phenomenon of nuclear explosion and the changing rule of various destructive factors. Seismological technique provides a pivotal research tool for nuclear test monitoring. The major tasks for seismological surveys in nuclear test monitoring are to determine and/or identify the event features, such as the epicenter, seismic magnitude, burial depth and the yield. In this paper, based on the development of method and technology of nuclear test in the past half century, we introduce and summarize relevant researches in nuclear test monitoring, especially the seismological observations and theoretical methods of event location and discrimination, magnitude determination, yield and burial depth estimation.
